The Cincinnati Post has an article on the rise in customers that Northern Kentucky bars are seeing thanks to the Ohio smoking ban. I paticularly liked this quote which pretty much sums up my thoughts on it.
“But this tsunami of government by nanny is making all of our choices for us, all of our decisions for us,” Gilliece said. “On an intellectual level it amazes me that ‘they’ are certain that I do not have the wherewithal to choose whether or not to go to a restaurant that allows smoking and accommodates non-smokers but I do have the wherewithal to choose whether or not to abort my unborn child. That’s absurd to me.”
I try to keep politics off this site but I think this is an issue most readers agree on and both parties have been guilty of becoming anti-smoking zealots because they think it will draw in a few votes. Granted the Ohio Law went on the ballot, but you didn’t hear one politician speaking out against it.
When I have some time on the weekend I’m going to call up a few of the local cigar bars and cigar shops and see what kind of impact the smoking ban has had.

It seems to me that the insurance compay’s have lobby the Federal Goverment {for our own good } to ban smoking and a lot of other freedoms that we once had. The US is headed for a bad turn of events just like the Roman’s did. THINK ABOUT IT !
I’m hoping maybe we will get a prohibition type backlash against the smoking bans.
A guy over at Schwab’s cigars told me there is a new place opening up in Nicholasville in Brannon Crossing called Jake’s Cigar Bar. It’s going to be a bar and cigar lounge. They’re website says they opening soon, http://www.jakescigarbar.com/
