Oliva Serie V Figurado Cigar Review
By Jesse | July 4, 2007
The Oliva Serie V is a blend of Nicaraguan long filler with Jalapa Valley ligero and a Habano Sun Grown Wrapper. The cigar is blended to be full bodied while still being a smooth flavorful smoke. I spoke with Sam from Oliva Cigars at last Party Source event and he had nothing but good things to say about this cigar.
The Figurado is a work of art I sat for a few minutes just admiring the craftsmanship displayed in this beauty. The size is a daunting 6×60 and combined with the ligero filler I was a bit nervous about smoking it. The wrapper was smooth with very fine veins and had a nice heft to it. The draw was a bit tight to start because of the unique shape, but opened up nicely once lit.
The cigar opened up nicely with a good amount of smoke once I got past the tip into a nice even burn. The smoothness definitely isn’t hype, this is by far the smoothest full bodied cigar I’ve smoked. I could smoke these cigars for the next two years and keep finding new flavors in them. The base is definitely coffee and dark chocolate as described on Oliva’s site, and a bit on the earthy side. The cigar started with a bit of pepper and sweetened up as it progressed with a hint of clove. I think I picked up a hint of caramel also, but that could have been from my drink.
Oliva has made another fantastic cigar with the Serie V. The ligero does give it a bit of a kick so take it slow. I’m really impressed with the complexity and smoothness of this full bodied cigar. Rating 9 out of 10.

Hey man, I am meeting Jose Oliva and smoking a few of these on Thursday night in Fume in Montlclair. Love the write up, looking forward to smoking this. I actually emailed one of CA’s editors and asked them how they liked the Series V.
“It a winner.”
Says it all.
Take care man,
Matt

They will be hard to fine for a couple more months. After the RTDA show they should be more readily available.
