I’m just curious to see what you happen to smoking the past few weeks. Myself I’ve been smoking quite a few Don Pepin Blue Labels and Oliva Cigars.
Add a comment and let me know what you’ve been lighting up.

La Auroras – the 100 Anos and Don Lino Africa
Carlos Torano Exodus 1959
I really need to find the 100 Anos, the shops I frequent don’t carry them. I’ll have to check the other shop downtown and on the Northside of town that has a different selection.
Olde World Reserve
VegaFina
and I have been smoking my share of Padrons 2000, 3000
I haven’t tired the VegaFina how is it?
I have been almost exclusively smoking Tatuajes (brown Label) lately with Don Pepins thrown in the mix every now and then. I stray to something else every once and a while and usually end up thinking I should have had a Tatuaje.
I’ve been really meaning to review some Pepin Cigars and I should be soon. I’ve got some cigars from Puros Indios that I want to review first, then hopefully I can get to the Pepin Cigars.
I have recently began exploring the Pepin lines myself… they do seem to have common characteristics that make them stand out.

Get one while you can, sir. This is the last year of production. It’s a great smoke.
Alright, I’m going Anos 100 hunting tomorrow.
I did have a concern with a Blue Label Pepin I had the other night. It was a bit soft. Still tastes great and smoked well, but makes me wonder about the quality control.
I was a little lit when I had the VegaFina so I really don’t want to comment on it yet. It was around $5 I believe so worth a try. I will be picking some more up next time I go out to Jungle Jims. I don’t know if TPS carries them or not.
I spend too much when I go to Jungle Jim’s. I start wandering through the beer and wine and I’ve spent $100 easy, then I hit the humidor, double ouch. Then I get to food and I’m broke. I’m going to be at KI on Saturday so I’m going to drop in at Bell’s to see what they have in stock.
Jungle Jim’s will do that to you, my first stop is the humidor (they changed it around a little), then wine and beer and then food. I always hit the sushi stand and cheese section right before the checkout. I could (and have) spent hours walking through the store.
We have been up to KI 3-4 times this year and have not stopped at Bell’s yet.
No Anos 100s at the Straus or Cincinnati Tobacconist downtown. Time to hunt elsewhere.
I first smoked the 100 Anos while honeymooning on Hilton Head Island. The shop I smoked it at has a great selection–they may have some in stock, and they do internet orders:

Over the last 2 weeks I have had
Ashton VSG
CAO CX2
Tatuaje (brown Label)
Gispert Maduro
Monti #2
Monte Cristo #2 is a fantastic smoke. I haven’t had one of those in years.
In the past week or so I’ve lit up
- Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 and 1990
- Cohiba Robusto
- Ashton Maduro #10
- El Mejor Espresso Churchill
- Sancho Panza Double Maduro Quixote
- Don Benigno Petite Robusto
So far both the El Mejor and the Vintage 1990 are very misbehaven smokes… don’t wanna stay lit, burn crooked, etc. I really like the Sancho Panza- easy draw, and pretty tasty. (Not to mention cheap.)
I may have to look out for those 100 Anos too!
Speedcat Hollydale …Dorals and Padron 2000 LOL!! :-)
Dorals ummmm I think I’ll pass on those. :-) I haven’t touched a cigarette in almost 6 years.
I’ve been on a Gurkha run lately. Smoking right now the Royal Brigade.
Gurkha Grand Age
Camacho Trip Maduro
Camacho Corojo
CAO Gold Maduro
Ashton VSG
Brian
I just about beat my friend up for buying a box of the El Mejor Espresso Churchill’s LOL
I have a Gurkha Shaggy in the humi that I hope to smoke soon. Looks good.
I enjoy the Estate Vintage Select, but I really love the Prince size which is a non shaggy version. Juicy and Delicious.
I haven’t touched much Gurkha stuff in awhile.
Hey Brian, I have found w/the El Mejor Espresso you need to let them sit for a while and they are better. I bought a sampler a while back and the first few were not that good but they have been sitting for a year now and they are better. .02
I haven’t tried the El Mejor Espresso yet. Heck this is the first I’ve heard of it.
Thanks for the pointer Jmatkins! I’m glad to hear there’s hope for these cigars. I like the idea, just not the execution so far.
I’m more than happy to let these guys sit. They couple I’ve smoked just haven’t been too enjoyable. Even when they decide to stay lit, it’s kind of like dragging your tongue through the dirt! :)
Cigar Jack: If you wanna try these out (i.e. buy a 5 pack now and wait a year) they’ve been going pretty cheap on cigar bid.
Lets see here… over the past few days:
’98 Montecristo No. 4 (disappointing…incredibly inconsistent smoke, but worth the gamble. Get a good one and you win the jackpot. No such luck this time.)
Oliva Angel 100 OTC (pretty good after a year in the humi.)
Camacho Havana (got a 2002 box from Fuller’s Pullers –after five years these are incredibly smooth. A totally different cigar than the fresh ones.)
Chateau Fuente King B (review up now)
Torano 1916 corona (nice everyday smoke)
I recently bought a box of Torano 1916 Coronas. I keep meaning to reviews them, but just never get around to it.
The most recent additions to my humidor are a couple of brands from Island Smoke Shop in Key Largo — Santiago Cabana (Nat.) and El Original (M), both in the robusto size. I’ve been burning through the Santiago Cabanas at an alarming pace. They’re phenomenal. I’ll be needing to reload on those sooner than I’d planned. The El-Os, on the other hand, taste young and brash to me. A little like a (too) fresh El Rico Habano. Time will tell…
And I’m with cigarfan on those Oliva Angel 100s! I smoke a couple of those per week and continue to be blown away. Tremendous blend. VSG and SP-XF fans should definitely check them out.
Hey Jack,
You can find both the “La Auroras 100 Anos” and “Don Lino Africa” in the Party Source Humidor. The 100 Anos are on the back wall next to the La Aurora Sapphires and the Don Lino’s are on the table on the right.
Last night smoked some great Casano’s, The 18 nat. and maddie, and the Corojo. Also had an unreleased Casano who’s name I don’t remeamber and as of yet has no band. Plus I brought down 2 Pepin Garcia cigars that I had never smoked before. The Vegas Cubanas and the Havana Soul. Both are great cigars but I enjoyed the VC a little more. Size, wrapper and taste remind me of some of the Pepin/Padilla cigars. Awesome!
Smoke on brother,
PatioPaul
Thanks Paul, I’ll check again for the 100 Anos at The Party Source. I have a friend I’m putting a surprise package together for so I need to stop in anyways. Might as well get something for myself too. :)
I’VE BEEN SMOKING RAMON ALLONES MILLE FLEURS(HABANA).AND I HAVE NEVER TASTED A CIGAR THAT WONDERFUL AND DIFFERENT IN ALL MY CIGAR SMOKING YEARS.MAKES ME WANT TO MOVE TO CUBA.OF COURSE AT THE PRICE I GET THEM AT WHY.(EYHO)
Woo-Ha! Just secured myself a 5-pack of the 100 Anos on CigarBid! If you’re having trouble finding them, you might consider checking there! (Provided that won’t cause you grief with your sponsors! ;) )
I just picked up $80 worth of cigars. I’m done for a couple weeks. :) I’ve picked up a couple Don Lino’s which I’ve heard great things about.
Did you find the La Auroras 100 Anos Jack?
Nope, one of these weeks if they move the tasting back to the Party Source I’ll have to have you point them out to me.
I have always liked Oliva cigars. But recently I had a Series O that had aged about 3 months in my humidor, and it was excellent. The aging seemed to really make a difference.
I’ve become a huge Oliva fan as of late. I’m going to try some of their bundles when I get the chance as I’ve heard they are great cigars for the price. The Oliva Serie V is their crown jewel at the moment and I have the feeling it will be one of the starts of the RTDA this year.
Great picture of CigarJack and Mrs. Jack on the Cigar Live blog. The one at the CAO party shows you smoking the CAO America. I got one from the PS boys the other day and I’ve gotta say…Impressive! A straight forward medium body cigar with great flavor.Revolutionary in that it’s the first cigar(that I know of ) that uses 2 full wrapper’s. CAO was told that it would never work. They would have too many burn issues using 2 wrappers, but boy’s and girl’s, this cigar burn’s PERFECT.The flavor is creamy with light hints of wood and bakers chocolate. The price point should fill that gap between The Italia/Brazila and the Soprano. On a 1 to 10 scale I would give this cigar a 9.3 and I know It’s only going to get better. This is still a young cigar that will only improve with some humidor time. I can’t wait to add the America to my rotation.
I’d smoked so much by the time I got to the CAO America I couldn’t taste it. I’ve been smoking the EO 601 Oscuro very very good.
