Memorable Cigars from 2007 RTDA Trade Show.
By Jesse | August 9, 2007
Here are the few cigars that really stuck out in mind that I smoked at the 75th RTDA Trade Show.
- Palmas Puro Cigars: I smoked about three of the cigars at the show and really enjoyed each one. A good medium bodied cigar that I could smoke at any time of the day.
- AVO 787: Even after smoking four cigars this cigar made me stop a moment and savor it. This cigar is going to be hot.
- Dona Flor Cigars: First time I got a chance to try one of these cigars and I’m really impressed with this Brazilian Puros. A very unique flavor profile that I don’t think I’ve tasted in anything else.
- EO 601 Oscuro: Another impressive cigar from EO. I place it in the flavor profile somewhere between the Red and the Blue.
There are more that I haven’t mentioned here yet but I’ve got several cigars I haven’t had the opportunity to try yet that I brought home with me. Check back later for more installments from what I liked and disliked at the Trade Show.

Jesse,
Did you get a chance to try the La Aurora barrel aged cigars? I’m looking forward to getting my hands on one of those…

Aurora’s booth was pretty much packed and I didn’t get a chance to speak with anyone. The big guys were harder to talk to since they don’t need the word of mouth like the small guys do. Oliva, Alec Bradley, and Carlos Torano were definitely good to the bloggers and have a good understanding of how important word of mouth is.

I agree with you on the Dona Flor cigar, I stopped by their booth to try one out (I told ‘em you sent me). Even though my palate was nicely roasted, I found them to have a great flavor.
As a side note I love the Mata Fina name for a leaf. According to BabelFish it means “it kills fine”. (Based on my small amount of Spanish I thought it meant “a fine death”, but either is pretty cool.)
Dang, how did I miss the 787?! (Pounding head on desk now…)

Yeah it was kinda hard to miss with the big piano behind it. :) Actually I walked by it the first day and didn’t realize what it was. I thought it was an information desk or something until I saw Avo himself sitting there.

Did I mention I got a picture with Avo. :)

Jesse,
Thank you for the kind words regarding Dona Flor. I am a Regional Sales Manager for Brazil Cigars & Tobacco LLC. We have a wonderful product and it’s great to see a connoisseur feels the same way.

Jesse, you’re just killin’ me!
@Rob: Do you represent the GA area also? By the way, I just clicked the link your name points to (cigarsofbrazil.com) and I got an error! Somebody better go kick the web guy’s feet off the desk, your site is down!

Sorry about that. I just gave a call to the boss and he says we’re running maintenance on it right now. The web site should be up and running by the end of the day or tomorrow at the latest. I am not the Sales Manager for Georgia. I am in Colorado. Email Patty at cigarsofbrazil dot com and she will give you a contact for Georgia. Thanks again for your interest.

For that, I’ll never smoke a Dona Flor again! Just kidding. :) No big deal, these things happen, I just wanted to make sure you guys were aware of it.
Thanks for the email, I’ll drop Patty a line and see where I can pick up a few locally and when the local events are…

I’m also curious to see if they are carried locally in my area. Thanks for stopping by Rob.
