Description: Oliva is getting a ton of buzz right now because of the new Serie V, but they are not new to making great cigars. Nearly all of Oliva’s lines are well rated, even their bundled cigars, the Flor De Olivas. The great thing about Oliva cigars is that they compete easily with cigars from a higher price point.

The Cameroon wrapper on the Oliva Serie G was not nearly as fragile as some Cameroons I’ve tried. It had a nice oily sheen, and the overall cigar had a good weight for it’s size. The burn was excellent, and evened out wonderfully even though I botched lighting it with the small matches I had available. That pleasing sweet aroma typical to Cameroon was strongly evident in the smoke. The Nicaraguan filler gives this cigar a bit more bite over top of the coffee and cedar flavors. What really surprised me, is how slow it burned. It lasted quite a bit longer than a typical cigar of this size.

Verdict: The Oliva Serie G packs a bit more punch than the typical Cameroon. It gave me a mild buzz, but not enough to worry about. The filler kicks this cigar up to medium bodied so even if you typically find a Cameroon cigar to be too mild I’d give this one a try. I don’t think you could find a better Cameroon for the price.

Similar Cigars: Closest to this cigar is probably the CAO Cameroon, but given the choice, the Oliva Serie G Cameroon would be my first. If you want something a bit milder try the Belmore Cameroon Selection, Arturo Fuente Don Carlos, or Carlos Torano 1916.
