Belmont CA Passes Nations Toughest Smoking Ban

By Jesse | September 12, 2007

This doesn’t surprise me coming out of the Bay Area. The ban prevents smoking in multi-story apartments or condos. It isn’t long before non-smokers are allowed to stone you in the street for smoking outside.

Update: The law has been passed and will take effect January 2009.

This is getting out of control. Pretty soon you won’t be able to do anything without the government’s permission. Though it doesn’t surprise me with the lax attitude that most Americans have on things that don’t affect the directly at the moment.

Somebody needs to organize and publicize a cigar party on some penthouse in Belmont and challenge this stupid law. If you don’t challenge it, then you can’t whine.

I live in NC, and most of the city of Chapel Hill is a “No Smoking Zone”, even on the street…The cops give you a ticket for doing so. I am sick of all of the Tobacco Nazi’s. What ever happened to personal choice and freedom. I am glad I live out in the country, away from these control freaks.

Ohio’s Smoking Ban pretty much killed off cigar bars and severely hurt many place in Cincinnati, by driving business across the river into Kentucky.

I sit next to an open window on a busy city intersection. Every day I breathe exhaust fumes from thousands of cars. As I tip my ash, I have to wonder how many of these vocal non-smokers and politicians drive, and where is the petition to stop them? Not from driving, but from hypocrisy.
