Description: I was introduced to the Olor del Cibao’s by Jarrod from Tex Cigars. The company discovered this cigar in the Dominican Republic and decided they must bring them to the States. The Cuban Seed Churchill is beautifully constructed, with minimal veins and a firm feel to it. Once cut I tested the draw and found it had a slight resistance with a slightly grassy and leather taste.

After I lit the cigar up and took the first few puffs I was surprised to pick up a coffee flavor while the unlit grassy flavor all but vanished. The coffee flavor picked up a nice creaminess as it warmed up through the first couple of inches. At the halfway point, I noticed another change in the notes as a bit of sweet spice with some nutty flavors were introduced into the mix. I had maybe an inch left when I finally relinquished the cigar to the ashtray, though even smoked down that far it didn’t even have a hint of harshness. Unlike Brian, I didn’t have any issues with the burn, but I believe mine might have rested a bit longer so that could be a possible explanation.

Verdict: A pleasant, mild cigar and a great change of pace from what I’ve been smoking recently. I see myself reaching for this cigar to have with my coffee or something to enjoy in the early afternoon.

Similar Cigars: The Cuban Seed Olor del Cibao had a bit more sweetness, but less complex than the more expensive Graycliff Red Label PG.

Actually, this is the one cigar that I had the least amount of burn issues with! And like yours, it also had a good deal more time resting in the humidor than the rest of the line.

Jarrod tells me that the initial issues these cigars had was due to some less than optimal shipping conditions, and all future batches will be noticeably better in the burn department. Did you take advantage of the sampler deal he put up? You can try all 4 of the Olor Del Cibao for 10 bucks. And get free shipping to boot! You’re post here reminded me to get on that before he comes to his senses!

Remember, these smokes are less than 3 bucks a stick. It’s a great value. You need to try the King Robusto, my favorite. Also, the Double Wrap Presidente.
