Description: Palmas Puro cigars, are made in the Dominican Republic at Real Tabacalera Sanchez-Romay S. A. This is the factory which also makes La Tradicion Cubana, JML 1902, and Sabor Cubano. Upon removal from it’s cedar sleeve, I noted that the Palmas Puro had a rich dark wrapper with a few veins. I could not find any fault with the construction, and I got a nice, easy draw after cutting it.

The first thing that struck me was the cedar aroma of the smoke. The smell alone makes it hard to let this cigar rest between puffs. Very rich maduro, cedar, and wine flavors were obvious throughout the cigar, and a faint black pepper taste crept in during the final third. I offered one to PatioPaul at the last get together and he responded that it was like “smoking candy”. In my opinion, this one would be a fantastic cigar to finish off a meal.

Verdict: After smoking a couple of these I’d picked up at the RTDA I went ahead and bought a box of them. This cigar has become one of the must haves in my humidor and I’ve been sharing them whenever I can. It is full of flavor, yet not at all over-powering.

Similar Cigars: The Primer Mundo Criollo Maduro has that same wine flavor but is more medium-full in strength.

When I first mentioned these on the forums people kept asking me where they can get them. I’m glad to say they they are now available through Fullers Pullers, in Bundles and 5-Packs.

Wow, I can’t believe I bought this box about a month ago and I’m down to three left. I plan on picking up a few more next month. The PC is a great size for smoking in cooler weather where it gets hard being outside for very long.

Jesse, great review! Webmeister over at CigarLive gave me one of these to try with my morning coffee today and I must say that I am impressed. This really is a great short smoke that goes well with a good cuppa joe. Cocoa, cedar and some great tobacco taste make this a really wonderful little find. Gonna have to get some more of these!

@Ceedee: I’m glad you enjoyed the cigar. I definitely picked up those flavors but also think I get a red wine like profile on it. I have one left in my humidor, time to pick up a few more.

I’ve tried the Petit Torpedo and really enjoyed it, but I have to say the PC is definitely my favorite.

Seeing that these have a Brazilian wrapper, I will look forward to trying and comparing to one of my other Brazilian wrapped wonders; the Torano Signature.

I haven’t had a Signature in awhile I’ll have to compare these two smokes side by side some night.
