I was sitting here in Cali…land of focacia bread, sprouts and coffee with 15+ syllables and I had a hankering for Snows Welsh Rarebit…..I grew up in Maine. I just now did some online research so desperate was I….I had a hankering for that home made (my parents thought opening a can constituted home made in Maine if it could not be dropped live into a pot of boiling water)…..welsh rarebit….does anyone know how to get some or a similar recipe?

I always had a can or two in the pantry. Rarebit with bacon, sliced tomatoes and slivered almonds on toast plus salad was a lovely meal in minutes. Sure do miss Snows.

I have been looking for the snows ingredients list and or a recipe for the Snows Welsh rarebit in the can. When it became unavailable, I tried some other versions but none like Snows. I even called the company before they closed to get an ingredient label but I think they thought I was a nut case. Please help! I must have a recipe close to Snows! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!Kevin

Thanks for the recipe. When I was a ute, I used to work for Snow’s Clam Chowder in Maine. They made a nice version of Welsh rarebit that could be jazzed up a little to be really good. Their brand name has since been sold to Borden and their plant closed down. God knows where that clam chowder is made now. Probably somwhere in China!
