Description: The first I’d heard of these cigars was when they showed up in my mail box from Tex Cigars. Originally created for one of his local tobacconists by Oliva Cigar, he is now also carrying them online. The Casada Toros I received had a nice looking Connecticut Shade Wrapper, the one pictured did have a larger vein running through it though. Other than that the stick is the same high quality I’ve some to expect from Oliva Cigar.
The cigar burned very well and I don’t recall it requiring any touch up. The cigar is on the milder side but still had some very good flavors. It started out with very woody profile that sweetened up after an inch or two. I also picked up some creamy and nutty undertones reminding me of almonds that really smoothed out the woody flavors. I also picked up hints of what I’d call alfalfa or clover hay taking me back to my days on the farm. Is that my dad yelling for me to get back to work?
Verdict: Overall a good smoke and very reasonably price at $4/stick. I’d lean towards these as one of my morning smokes where I prefer a milder cigar.
Similar Cigars: I’d compare this cigar favorably to the Casa Torano or Chateau Real.
