Description: I’ve been a bit down on Perdomo after some bad experiences with the cigars a few years ago and when The Party Source stopped carrying them I really did not miss them. Well the guys at The Party Source said they are bringing them back and if they were excited about them, I wanted to know why. My friend Paul gifted me one of these and after that one smoke I picked up a few more to try for a review.

The Lot 23 Robusto is a nice looking cigar, the wrapper has fine veins as you’d expect in this type of wrapper. I did find it to be a bit soft, but the draw was perfect. Unlit, I picked up some woodiness on theprelight draw check.

Perdomo Lot 23 Robusto Cigar ReviewOnce lit the cigar burns very well, with a tight light gray ash. Starting out I picked a mix of wood and nuts that hinted at walnuts, it also had just enough spice to leave the tongue tingling. About an inch or so in the cigar mellowed out and lost some of harsher woody notes, becoming more creamy. From this point on the flavors reminded me of roasted almonds, butter and just a touch of leather. The flavors stayed consistent throughout the smoke with no real surprising changes.

Verdict: A great cigar for the money. I thought it smoked awfully quick though and wished it would last a bit longer. The cigar pairs really well with sweeter beverages, I enjoyed it on different occasions with a Rum and Coke and a Tawny Port. I tired having one as my morning smoke but found it to be a bit more full-bodied than I enjoy with my morning cup of coffee.

Similar Cigars: I’d say it has some similarities to the EO 601 Black Label, not as complex, but it carries lower price tag.

I am a rookie cigar afficionado and this is currently one of my favorite cigars. I love the Perdomo brand and have enjoyed their lot 23, habano, and reserva brands very much. I definitely recommend the lot 23 for those who enjoy a smooth smoke at a good price.
