Father H Protests Smoking Ban with a Smoke In
By Jesse | December 8, 2007
A cigar smoking priest in Kansas is holding a “Smoke In” to protest a proposed smoking ban.
Wichita’s proposed smoking ban is coming under a lot of fire. Now, a cigar smoking priest is protesting the proposal with a “smoke in.” It’s set for Monday at six o’clock at First and Washington in Old Town.
His name is Father H Setter, and he is the shepherd for the All Saints congregation near Harry and Hillside. But Father H (yes, that is his real first name), he has a different side, a holy smoker side.
Father H, with his four humidors and his wall to wall memorabilia, is something of a cigar aficionado. He stood in his rectory, gesturing to the hundreds of cigars he owns. “Every one of these cigars,” he says, one in hand, “every brand of these is going to give you a very distinct flavor, very different than the one next to it.”

If the public was honestly and truthfully informed about the effects of second-hand smoke, there would be fewer no-smoking laws in this country.
There has never been a single study showing that exposure to the low levels of smoke found in bars and restaurants with decent modern ventilation and filtration systems kills or harms anyone.
As to the annoyance of smoking, a compromise between smokers and non-smokers can be reached, through setting a quality standard and the use of modern ventilation technology.
Air ventilation can easily create a comfortable environment that removes not just passive smoke, but also and especially the potentially serious contaminants that are independent from smoking.
