Tatuaje Cigars Website Review
By Jesse | December 21, 2007
A couple of people suggested I take on Tatuaje’s Website, after a quick glance I can see why.
The Cigars: C
Tatuaje does break down the cigars, listing sizes and the tobacco in each blend. What really hurts the site is the lack of pictures and some detailed information on the cigars. The information is kind of spread out over the page broken, the layout needs some work here. I’d like to see all the description listed at the top of the page above the breakdown by vitola. Pictures are a much needed addition to the site, I’d like to know what the cigars look like before I head to the store.
The Company: F
The only contact information is Pete’s Email Address listed on each of the cigar pages. Nothing else, that’s it. A Contact and About pages are must additions for this site. At least throw up a phone number and address on a page somewhere. The layout is fairly simple, it wouldn’t take long to throw up an additional page with contact information. The Press Section is probably the only up to date section on the website.
Website Features and Usability: D
The have some swag listed and a link to where you can buy it. A Google Map listing all the locations that sell Tatuaje Cigars, but I noticed again some of my local shops that carry them aren’t listed. I like the Google Map listing all the retailers but this really needs to be updated. The map is probably the only thing I’d consider a feature on the site.
Recommendations:
Where do I start? I’d say scrap the site and start over. The cigar section needs some more details along with pictures. Their really needs to be better company information along with contact information. I’d also recommend adding an Events section to the site. A question I ask myself when I do these reviews is, “If this was my company is this the site I’d want my customers to see?” The answer is a resounding “No!” The site feels hastily thrown together as an after thought and not regarded as a tool to market their brand. This has to be one of worst sites I’ve seen so far in my current trek through cigar manufacturer sites.

I have to agree 100%. This site is terrible and does look like it was thrown together far to quickly and without any thought process at all. I hope they come to their senses and create a much better site to draw potential customers.

You know, it’s just not very common to find a good manufacturer website for cigars. I don’t know why this is. I think it’s because they don’t care much about the internet and care much more about retail stores and other products to promote retail stores. I see manufacturers make all kinds of neat stuff for the retailers, but they never focus much on the websites. I personally think it’s so that people will ignore online sales and use the retail brick and mortar stores and the manufacturers want it that way. It’s so odd.
