By Jesse | January 6, 2008 |
Just from what I’m already reading in the press 2008 is going to be a bad year in regard to smoking bans. France, Portugal and Turkey joined the ranks of countries with nationwide smoking bans. Several states are looking at new bans this year. Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Wisconsin all have smoking bans on the agenda.
- Courant.com has a nice little anti-Cuban Embargo Rant.
- Pubs in Oxfordshire, UK have seen a 50% drop in business since the smoking ban.
- Reuters has a round up of smoking bans around the world.
- Washington State says bars are flourishing with smoking ban, bar owners tell a different story.
- Edmonton Police don’t plan on enforcing smoking ban, will focus on serious crimes instead.
- The man responsible for Portugal’s Smoking Ban gets caught lighting up.
- Casino calls itself a “Cigar Bar” in Colorado to bypass smoking ban.
- Small cafes hit hard by France’s Smoking Ban.
- Ohio’s 10th District Court of Appeals rules that private clubs are not exempt from the Smoking Ban.
