Description: On the pre-light inspect I found a well constructed cigar, slightly reddish colored wrapper with small veins throughout. The wrapper smelled a bit sweet and the pre-light draw was spicy with a touch of nuttiness.
After toasting the foot, it took a bit of effort to get the cigar fully lit. Once I finally got it going I had no additional problems in that area. Right off there was a blast of orange peel flavor which mellowed out after an inch. There was also some straw taste with an undertone of nut. By the second third that orange peel flavor started to blend well with the nuttiness. However, by the final third that orange peel flavor was almost completely gone replaced by some spice, straw and rich tobacco taste.
The burn line was not perfect, but well with in reason. The ash was a dark grey and flaky, but it held up well. The draw a bit of resistance, just enough to require some effort … but not so much that smoking it became a workout. It was for the most part a medium body cigar, but it started to move towards full body by the end.
Verdict: I would smoke the Cubita again, I especially think in this particular size. Its flavors blended well oeverall. It is not an expensive stick; it can be had for under four bucks. It is a decent smoke for anyone just looking to try something new and not break the bank.
