Just a Cigar Smoker
By Jesse | March 1, 2008

I don’t have a huge collection of sticks. I don’t have a pallet for the best, smoothest scotch. I don’t have the access to the finest beers or most exotic
coffees around. I’m just a Cigar Smoker.
There are many reasons I am though. The Cigar smoking community is one I’m proud to be a part of. They are the most generous, courteous, accepting, and giving of all that this world has to offer. They range from the most sophisticated to people like myself. I swear, drive fast, pass gas, and frankly sometimes just don’t care of your thoughts about who I am…but I am a Cigar Smoker. I love the flavors and feelings that Cigar Smoking gives to me. I love the people I meet in Tobacco Shops, online, and at a stop light that are enjoying a stick, looking over and seeing me enjoy mine. I smoke with my friends, some family, and complete strangers that ultimately become friends.
To me Cigar Smoking is about the experience not the dollars spent on the smoke. I take my label off and have the same enjoyment as the person next to me. I drink water, cheap beer, Dunkin Donuts coffee, Sailor Jerry rum, or a soda. I have a regular job that I don’t like, but I have a lunch hour that I do. I play poker, watch football, tailgate at games, work on my computer, and hang outside with my neighbors. But with all my qualities and/or faults, I’m just a Cigar Smoker.
I’m part of something much bigger than the cigar I smoke. I part of a community, a brotherhood if you will. I participate in an industry that provides jobs, friendships, and help to the unfortunate. It sits on Capitol Hill looking out for my rights while picking tobacco leafs in the warmest most humid climates. It celebrates victories, missions, events, and moments and allows me to toast a newly risen spirit. This industry is much bigger than the Cigar I smoke…I’m proud to know this even though I’m just a Cigar Smoker.
