Two Cigar Metal Ashtray

By Jesse | March 6, 2008

Tom from NC a member of Cigar Live originally sent this in as part of his 601 Black review. It was good enough to stand on its own though. Hey my contest, my rules!

You can see this ashtray in a few of the shots in the above review. I just wanted to include a note at this point that the bowl shape and volume are an important part of finding the right ashtray. This ashtray is listed on several sites as a two cigar ashtray.

My feeling on this ashtray is that the bowl is too shallow for even one cigar, much less two. By the time you ash a cigar once or twice, there is no room to rest a cigar without the cigar actually touching the old ash, unless you rest the burn line on the rest itself as you can see in the photo below. Because I smoke outside, I tend to ash off the deck and use this just for resting the cigar.

I need to buy a better ashtray, just thought I would warn anyone looking into this ashtray.

I don’t know how long you have owned yours, but you may find the finish going to hell pretty quickly too.

I held my line at auction on this item and scored it for $3.

Best feature - with its slim design, it fits on a windowsill. I keep mine beside the kitchen sink - it serves better as a cigar rest than an ashtray.

I agree with the assessment and the warning off of potential buyers.

Since you are in the market for a better ashtray, I’ll tell you an ashtray I really like, tho’ I can’t say for sure if they are still available.

The two cigar 5 Vegas ashtray from CI. Slim design, deep bowl, good size rests. One can have several butts (with accompanying ash) in the bowl and it is still comfortably usable.

It really is a favorite of mine.

Yea, If I shopped there for an ashtray, I would have a good entry for the most expensive accessory thread!

And yes, the finish on mine is already failing, a bad ashtray all the way around. But it sure was pretty on the tinderbox shelf.
