AVO Cigars Website Review
By Jesse | March 14, 2008
The AVO Website is another one to add to my list of frustrating cigar manufacturer websites. While not a terrible design it does have some flaws, and hasn’t been kept up to date.
Cigars: C
The only thing I do like is the fact that they show pictures of all the sizes. Other than that they haven’t been great about keeping the site updated with new releases and finding information on the tobacco in the cigars isn’t easy and not available for some of the blends.
Company: B
If you aren’t familiar with Avo Uvezian, I recommend reading the details about him and the founding of his cigar brand. He is one of the more fascinating individuals in the cigar industry. They have contact information listed, but were lacking any real press information on the website. I don’t see any mention of the AVO 787 or about the events going on featuring Avo Uvezian that I’ve read about elsewhere.
Website Features: C
A fairly basic website that is lacking any real extra features. I don’t like the fact that only uses portion of my screen and much of the cigar information is done in pop up windows. They have a retailer locater, but it has been broken the last fee times I checked the website. Again the lack of any news updates or an events section is sorely needed.
Recommendations:
The site needs to make better use of the screen. An update to the cigar section is a must. I’d like to see more details about the blends of each line along with the listing of newer lines. News and Events sections are must additions, a manufacturer’s website should be your main stop when looking for information about the cigars. I’m not real big on the cigars appearing in pop up windows, I don’t see why they can’t appear in the page.
