Tis a tragic tale.
There is only one thing better than a quality smoke and that is a free quality smoke. My wife’s uncle (my uncle-in-law or however that works) slipped me a cigar last weekend that I have wanted to try, but never put forth the money for one. La Aurora Preferidos. I’d heard great things about this smoke and I couldn’t wait to light up. So let’s get started.
I am holding the Cameroon robusto. The wrapper is smooth and slightly oily. I notice a small tear at the foot of the cigar, but I’m not too concerned. I clip the cap and take a pre-light draw noticing a smooth pull. No plugs in this masterpiece. I light it up and notice a very creamy flavor right off the bat with a slight woodsy base. After about 3 pulls on the stick, I notice the slight tear running down the cigar. I’ve never encountered this before in a stick of this caliber, so I was a little shocked. It turns out it was a one inch bust in the cigar. The flavor was still there, but in very small quanitites. I couldn’t get a good draw with the bust. I had to sacrifice what I saw as an experience of a lifetime. Jason wept. But I vow that I will give this cigar another chance. My uncle-in-law had had 2 boxes and this is the first he had seen come to such an end.
