Bar Owner Follows Judge’s Orders

By Jesse | May 14, 2008 |

A bar owner gets hauled into court for violating the smoking ban in Washington and the judge suggests a loophole he can use to allow smoking:

That’s what put Schnarrs in court last Friday. Thurston County said he was breaking the state law which bars smoking in public places. But judge Richard Hicks surprised everyone by suggesting there was a way to get around the smoking ban.

“Maybe if you had a membership, private club, and charged something more than the cost of food and drink to be a member, you could get around it that way,” Hicks said from the bench.

    Jack,

This is what America needs. Two thumbs up to this Judge. Hey the law is the law but I’m glad this Judge saw that there is limited amounts of places that one can go to enjoy a fine cigar. Finally someone with balls pushed all these liberals back a step by giving that establishment owner a break and an avenue for cigar smokers to go.

Haha, niiiice. I wish someplace in Columbus, OH would take heed to such advice and open a cigar bar. We at least have a few tobacco shops that are exempt to the smoking ban, but often times I really want nothing more than a great scotch or pint of porter to compliment a cigar as well.

Kick ass Judge, you don’t see much of that these days.
