After reviewing La Aurora’s website I realized I hadn’t smoked many of their cigars lately. The Connoisseur Selection is a cigar enthusiasts dream. It consists of four cigars each with the same blend, but featuring different wrappers. You can try each wrapper and see how the wrapper changes the flavor profile. The Connoisseur Selection features the same blend as the 1495 series, but you have your choice between the Brazilian, Cameroon, Connecticut and Corojo wrappers. I enjoy most cigars with Brazilian tobacco so I thought I’d start there.
Construction: Brazilian wrappers tend to look a bit rough and these are no exception. The cigar is dark brown with a slightly oily sheen to it and a bit of tooth. There was one obvious vein running through the cigar and it had a slight consistent give to it.
Burn: The burn wasn’t always pretty on this cigar and it did require the occasional touch up, but never got out of hand enough to ruin the smoking experience. The ash was white with dark grey stripes and tended to drop off fairly easy, might want to keep an eye on this one.
Flavor: The cigar has a background of smooth dark chocolate that hangs on throughout the smoke. Some earthy tones start out the first third with some definite spice once it heats up. Exercise caution if like to exhale out your nose, my eyes started watering as if I’d just inhaled some black pepper. About halfway through the cigar it picked up some cinnamon notes that lingered in the mouth. The final third picked up a woody mix of cedar and oak wine barrels. The Brazil had some great flavors right up until the last inch, then it started to get really harsh and had to be put down.
Verdict: I’m eager to see how the rest of the Connoisseur Selection stacks up against the Brazil. I believe I picked these cigars up locally for under $6.00. If you like the CAO Brazilia I think this cigar would be right up your alley, but this cigar is a bit more complex.

I fell instantly in love with the CAO Brazilia when I smoked one for the first time last weekend, so I think that I’ll have to check this cigar out, as well.
From the picture I’d have to guess that you’d pick up much less of ‘a woody mix of cedar and oak wine barrels’ in the last third if you took the band off!
;oP
I didn’t burn it down that close. ;) There is a couple times I’ve charred the band a bit before getting them off. LOL and the woody flavor was actually very nice.
never cared much for La Aurora but.For this one i have changed my mind best one yet
I fell in love with this cigar. It is full bodied without being overbearing and has a wonderful subtle woody/spicy taste. I smoked it down to the very end and it never lost it’s flavor. If you can’t tell, I liked this one!
