Gispert Robuto Cigar

I’m always on the look out for a good inexpensive cigar, but tend to shy away from milder cigars from the bigger companies. They always seem to be lacking in taste. I found the Gispert tucked away in a corner of the bottom shelf at my local shop and since I was in the mood to try something mild I picked up five. That was a couple months ago, and while I haven’t picked up a box yet I pick up a few more on each trip.

Construction: Each I’ve smoked has been consistently good. The wrappers always look nice and pretty much uniform in color. The cigar does run slightly on the soft side, but I believe this is intentional.

Burn: The burn is typically fantastic. Even though this cigar runs a bit on the softer side the ash typically holds on very well. In contrast to the light wrapper the ash is a darker grey.

Flavor: I’ve been meaning to review these for nearly a month. I always ended up getting distracted when I smoked these though as I chose them as a morning cigar. The background is a little earthy with a touch of woodiness along with coffee and leather. The cigar is a touch nutty and combined with that creamy smooth texture it comes across as a butter like flavor. There is also a hint of cinnamon or another spice that really finishes the cigar off nicely. It pairs up very nice with a cup of coffee for the brief moment of solace before my hectic day begins.

Verdict: Hands down this cigar is one of the best bangs for the buck out there. While I typically reach for this cigar earlier in the day, I’ve found myself also lighting up one of these in the evening as they have enough flavor to be enjoyable even after a heavy meal. This is also a great cigar to hand out to people who don’t smoke on a regular basis as it won’t overpower them. If you haven’t tried one yet I request that you add this to your list of cigars to try.

Very nice review. The Gispert Maduro is a very good smoke as well.

I’m holding back on that one. The last two I bought were rock hard and the draw was about as easy as using a pencil as a drinking straw.

Now i know I’m an excentric Brit but when i saw this favourite of mine on the RSS feed at my Google Reader I was jumping up n down like a nutter.

Some would say I’m a wine expert who prefers a fine cigar to wine, but when i read your description of the flavours on this Gispert I found myself envious that I just dont have the ability to describe cigars or maybe the tastebuds to have written what you have here.

Its brilliant and so are these Gisperts. They are cheap and really good tasting. I have many of them in a larger size plus their darker maduro cousins.

I had a couple of the Churchills and they were just as good. This cigar took me a few tries to pick out the flavors. It is surprisingly complex for an inexpensive cigar.

Whether golfing or going fishing this is my favorite cigar for those activities. Just a great cigar for the money, and I don’t mind letting my buddies have one. They do tend to be a little soft.Gispert and La Unica are my everyday smokes.

I tend to alternate this cigar with an Alec Bradley Occidental REserve which to my pallette are similar and can be smoked outside in this unpredictable UK weather.

Keep up your excellent reviews as your take on which cigars and the flavours you identify are far more professional than I could do.

I like the Gispert natural and maduro’s. A great smoke for the price….I think someone screwed up with the pricepoint because these could go for a few dollars more and no one would be the wiser. Plain English…a good smoke!
