Cigar Review: Cohiba "Red Dot" Lonsdale Grande

Cohiba Lonsdale Grande Cigar

Prelight: This is a review of the Cohiba Lonsdale (a great size), one of the cigars all others are judged by. The wrapper in oily to the touch, just right, not as "toothy" as most Cameroons to the touch. The cigar had a full wonderful feeling like it was packed right, tight head, no super hard spots. The wrapper also tasted good in the mouth, a cigar should have mouth appeal, it should feel and taste well, before you light it.

Cigar Review: Sol Cubano Cuban Classic

Monday, May 19th, 2008

The Sol Cubano Cuban Cabinet, made in Oliva’s factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, has an extremely smooth, slightly oily, vein-free Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. If you give it a whiff, you’ll definitely notice its nice sweet-and-spicy scent.

Once I lit up, I found the Cuban Cabinet had a great draw that was consistent through several sticks. Now, I’ve read some posts around the blogosphere complaining about the draw on this cigar. Since it’s still a pretty new blend, perhaps Fernandez is still working out the kinks. Anyway, you’ll get no complaints from me.

This website review comes as a special request from Jerry over at Stogie Review. He had some frustrations finding information on a cigar he’d recently smoked and wanted to call them out. Drew Estate is famous/notorious for the ACID lines, but in recent years they come up with some non-infused blends that are some very good cigars.

Friday, May 16th, 2008

I’ve heard good things about this new cigar from Alec Bradley and hope I get the chance to try one soon. The Tempus, according to the site, has been a few years in the making and along with the release of this cigar the company is planning a new look by featuring the company name [...]
