Tatuaje Cabaiguan Guapos 46 Cigar Review

I thought I'd start venturing into reviewing more cigars from Tatuaje. Little did I know that the one I choose is a Limited Edition. The Cabaiguan Guapos line is similar to the regular Cabaiguan line except it replaced the Shade Grown Wrapper with a Sun Grown Wrapper. The name Cabaiguan is the home town of Don Pepin Garcia, who produces the Tatuaje Cigars for Pete Johnson.

Construction: The wrapper as a light brown almost coffee and cream look. It is smooth with no major veins and an oily sheen to it. It has a slight bit of give to it when pressed, but no obvious soft spots of defects that I can determine. The prelight draw was good with just a bit of resistance.

Burn: Not much to really say about the burn. I didn't have any issues with it. The ash was a bit loose though and landed on my keyboard once or twice. Heh, with as much ash as I've dropped on this keyboard I'm amazed I can still type on this thing.

Flavor: I'm half tempted to tell you this cigar sucked and tasted like a mix of wet dog and raw sewage, more for me that way. The cigar starts out with a blasted of cedar, pepper and a mix of leather and coffee in the background. The second third mellows out a bit and picks up some caramel and vanilla, while the pepper still leaves the tongue tingling. It finishes off by picking up the heat again the pepper dominating the last third. A creaminess I noticed in the first two thirds of the cigar seemed to really fade at this point.

Verdict: This is one of those cigars I'd recommend a box purchase. This cigar reminds me quite of a Partagas Serie D No. 4 I had awhile back with the mix of spice, sweetness and creamy flavors.

Hmm. Never really knew too much about this brand. But if it’s like a Partagas D, I guess that’s all I have to know.

Been buying singles and 5 packs over the past year and they have been consistently excellent every time. The box purchase is good advice, just bought one today.

I bought a Cabaguan about a week ago. Smoking it at the moment. Pete Johnson was in town, so I thought it was fitting. It has more of an oscuro wrapper though.
