Reyes Family Cigars Premier Perfecto

Reyes Family Cigars is the new name for Puros Indios, which is in the process of coming out with a few new lines as they rebrand themselves. One thing that seems to be their trademark is the size of their cigars on the larger end. The Premier is no exception, this Perfecto I'm reviewing intimidates most of the cigars in my humidor. Most other cigars made by Rolando Reyes Sr. have a distinct flavor to them I could often pick up across their brands, this cigar departs from that and the only thing it has in common is the availability in larger vitolas.

Reyes Family Cigars Premier Perfecto

Construction: Not the prettiest cigar, but well constructed. It has a slight give when pressed, but it is uniform with no obvious soft spots. The wrapper is a dark mottled brown with some larger veins in it. The cigar comes pre-cut with a very small opening. The draw was good so I didn't cut off anymore.

Burn: The burn was great and the cigar last a bit over an hour. I only needed one touch up in the last third. The ash was almost white and held on very well.

Flavor: The cigar starts with some woody flavors on the first few puffs, but that soon mellows out and turned into a rich mix of coffee and earthiness. There is a touch of sweetness in the flavor, berry like, something you'd get in a good coffee. Some spice picked up in the last half really getting stronger as the cigar progressed, but it never got harsh.

Reyes Family Cigars Premier Perfecto

Verdict: This is a big change from the typical flavors I get out of a cigar from Rolando Reyes Sr. It reminded me bit of the Drew Estate Natural, but not as sweet.  I'd definitely pick a few up, but I think I prefer the smaller sizes. I smoked one of the Toro sizes and thought some of the flavors were a bit more intense. I'll post a short review of it in the near future.

Awesome! Welcome to the world of video and you did a great job…I love it! Really hope you will be doing more and more videos.

Sounds like a cigar that I would enjoy. Time to add it to the ever growing list of cigars…now if my bank account would grow along with it lol.

That cartoon of you does not do justice to your handsome mug. I look forward to more of your video reviews. I thought it was interesting that the cigar comes pre-cut. Is that common for perfectos? That large cigar would make a great Father’s Day gift for all the “big daddies” out there.
