Los Tabaqueros Documentary
By Jesse | June 18, 2008 |
Los Tabaqueros is a short documentary focusing on the people who make cigars. Filmed in a cigar factory in the Calle Ocho District of Miami, FL, it is a behind the scenes look at cigar making. You won’t see any of the well known cigar stars, what you get is the guy who sits down at a table and rolls cigars all day.
It is definitely a unique look at the cigar industry we don’t often see, most documentaries or films I’ve seen don’t ask the opinions of the guys sitting behind the tables. It was interesting to see that these people are just as passionate about the cigars they make as we are about smoking them.
The documentary itself was fairly short and that was a bit disappointing. I wish they would have covered a bit more. Alright most DVD’s I buy the Special Features are useless, this is an exception. They’ve added some valuable information especially for a new cigar smoker. It has information on Calle Ocho, Humidors, and a lengthy Cigar Glossary.
Another bonus is you can listen to the music separately from the documentary. The music was written by Cuban musicians for Los Tabaqueros. It adds a nice ambiance that pairs well with a bit of rum and a cigar.
The Los Tabaqueros DVD is available for sale at their website.
