Cigar Review: Padron 6000 Maduro
By Jesse | June 19, 2008 |
Company: Padron
Line: 6000 Maduro
Vitola: Torpedo 5 1/2 X 52
Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Flavor: Medium-Full
Strength: Medium
Price: $163.80 (Box of 26)
Construction: While the one I smoked for this review was beautiful, these have been hit and miss recently. I’ve had some that look like absolute crap. They shouldn’t have even left the factory. So if you are picking up any singles or boxes at your local shop, be sure to look them over before you walk out.
Burn: I have to say that all of these have burned extremely well with a beautiful white ash on them. The one I smoked for this review was perfect, and never required any touch up.
Flavor: This cigar starts off with a strong woody flavor before settling down to where the earthiness and coffee start to come out. Near the start of the second third the cigar picks up a little spice along with some definite dark chocolate. I also picked up some hints of cream mixed in with the rest of the flavors. By the start of the final third the cigar picks up some definite heat maybe some notes of cayenne and cinnamon. Wood, earth, coffee and chocolate are still the dominate flavors.
Verdict: While I still love these cigars, I’m disappointed that I’m seeing so many that appear to badly constructed. Honestly I’d want to inspect any I plan on buying before I get them.

I agree that these cigars are very good. I would, however, try buying them elsewhere as I haven’t had any issues with them.

This wasn’t storage or handling issues, these were obvious flaws in the cigar construction. So I don’t think it would have mattered where I bought them. I even had one sent to me from across the country and it also looked bad for a Padron.

[...] does seem to be some inconsistency here — it isn’t severe, but as Jesse points out in his review of the Padron 6000 at Cigar Jack there may be some quality control issues to look out for. On the other hand, this is [...]
