Brian over at Stogie Review tried the Strat awhile back and wasn't real happy with it. I'd take some backup sticks along just in case. ;)

If you're driving in from Miami, stop in Key Largo at the Island Smoke Shop in the Pink Plaza on the right about mile marker 103. They carry a handmade brand called El Original, which is rolled in the Miami area. Very nice, and something you probably haven't tried. Personally I like the maduros, they are about 120 for 25 but a sampler of 4 or 5 sizes is pretty reasonable for a trial. Have fun in the keys.

Man, I wish I had the money to buy these smokes! Then again, I haven't been on a vacation since I was 15.

Here's what I'm thinking now:

- Coronado by La Flor
- Oliva Serie V
- Maybe a Graycliff or two from my humidor

Should I go with BOTH the Coronado and Oliva, or should I mix something else in there?

I'll be out to Miami for the last weekend of July. I'll take a few with but have planned to spend the day in Little Havana on Saturday and enjoy local. For walking around, I've always favored a Rocky as they are not intrusive as most(my wife lets me sleep in the same room) likely a Toro Rocky Sun Grown or an Edge Sumatra. For a day smoke, Edge Light if I want to smoke a mellow cigar. I'll also have a Chisel maduro, Oliva Series V Torpedo, Rocky Patel Olde World, Shaggy, La Gloria Wavell maduro and CAO Brazilia Gol to round it.

You know those cigars you never smoke because you think the occasion isn't good enough? Those are the ones you take on vacation.

You need to bring a long a special occasion cigar. Because I am sure one night will be so special, you'll want to smoke something special...

For me it was a cruise of last year, I had a cabin with a balcony. I packed one cigar for that special occasion which may or may not come....

Well as it turns out, one night from my cabin I was able to watch the sun set into the horizon. It was an incredible sight. So with that, I lit up a cigar I had brought with me for just such an occasion, a Fuente Between The Lines...

For my vacation I will probably pack some Oliva Serie V lanceros, Perdomo Champagne toros (for my hubby), Bolivar petit coronas (Cuban), and San Cristobal Supremos. I will also check out the local cigar shop where I'll be staying to see if they have anything new or interesting to try.

Since I never know in advance what I'll be in the mood for it is hard for me to pick what to bring with me. I am heading out on a weeks vacation on Friday so I am facing the same dilemma. I try to keep it simple. This is what I do If I will be gone for 7-10 days. First in the travel-a-dor is 5 of my go to cigars. Do you have a go to cigar that you know, if what you really want isn't available, or you can't make up your mind, you know you can grab one of these and you'll be happy? You need at least 5 of those in the box.
For me that is the Perdomo Reserve Cameroon. It always satisfies and it's a bargain too at $6 so I don't feel like I need the ideal situation to light it up. Then pack 5 of your #1 favorite stick. For me that is the Tatuaje Havana Cazadores. Next I select 5 or 6 really Special Occasion smokes. I know I won't have time for one of these every night I'm gone, but I also know I am going to try for every night so 5 or 6 have me covered and may even be one or two more than I will ultimately need. A Cohiba Siglo VI, Partagas Lusitaina a Tatuaje RC184, Perdomo Silvio Cameroon, PSP#2, and a BBF are on my list for this vacation. The rest is tougher. I'll try and select a mix of morning smokes and after dinner smokes that I think I may want while I'm away. I agonize of this last part for a while and try to get up to 20-24 cigars total to take on my trip. I know I'll have way more than I'll smoke, but I am sure to always have something I want to smoke on hand while I'm away. My 24 count Otterbox is a great travel companion.

On my recent trip to Florida, I loaded up my travel humidor with all of my favorite, high-end smokes: Padron 1964, Opus X, El Centurion, Illusione, San Cristobal, and Ashton VSG. I wanted only my best stuff for when I had a change to relax and enjoy a smoke. For the drive, I packed up Padron 2000 maduros, Don Pepin Cuban Classics, and Camacho Corojos to smoke while driving. Good smokes, but not my top end.

For my trip to the beach this weekend, I'm once again loading up my high end smokes for the 3 nights, and I have bought the CAO America Four for the Fourth sampler pack for the day time.
