Cigar Talk: What’s your Fourth of July cigar?

By Daniel | July 3, 2008 |

Allright folks, spill it: What cigar(s) will you be smoking tomorrow? Why?

Me? Call me cheesy and unimaginative, but I’ll be lighting up at least one CAO America.

Have a happy and safe Fourth of July!

I’ll smoke a CAO America as well… not too heavy, which makes it a nice smoke for a cookout. During the fireworks it’ll be a Maduro Fuente Canones - definitely a favorite. - Tab Bamford

I’ll be smoking the very last stick of a box of La Flor Dominicana. Later I’ll be lighting fireworks off of a Double Chateau Fuente. Just kidding… about the fireworks. Those are illegal here in Los Angeles County.

My birthday is today so I celebrated with a Pardon 1964 Diplomatico and for tomorrow I planned on taking some 3000’s for some friends and I before we see a concert at Red Rocks in Denver but I might have to go pick up some CAO America’s as well.

I tried to get a Camacho Liberty but my local shop was out of them. So I’m going with a CAO America.

My fav local shop just got in Perdomo ESVs. Tried both the nat and maduro wrappers. The natural was good, but burns too quick and not ebough flavor. Maduro was incredible and I will buying these from now on even for the $15 they cost here in tax insane Minnesota! Happy 4th! Ended my night with a couple of Lot 23 maduros…..bargain smoke of the world!

I had the CAO America during the day.It was not to heavy and went well with the light beer and grilled food we had. Then we all had some churchhill Vintage 1999’s towards the end of the night when we were relaxing.Great food, great friends and great cigars today.

One of my favorite cigar smoking days… Enjoyed a Cuaba Salamon on my way up to visit with Opus Dave and he gang.

After a few burgers and dogs, I went with a fresh Bolivar Belicoso Fino, great cuban flavors, a bit of spice and enough strength and flavor to stand up to an almost full stomach.

Some poker and soft drinks, and the end of the afternoon… I went with the Camacho Liberty (a few years old). Flag coffin and it smoked great. Love the Camacho Corojo line (particularly in Dark Natural)… this did not disappoint.

Night falls, the fireworks begin and I sparked up a Forbidden Opus X from the humidor set. It was a couple years old when it was gifted to me a couple years ago. Spicy and strong, great Dominican flavors. A real treat.

Long ride home, an Ashton VSG Wizard, from the Original release. Love the cigar, this is a big one with slightly muted flavors. Tough to follow the others that I’ve had, but this one came through.
