In the past I’ve only reviewed a couple cigars from Gurkha. A couple of reasons for that. One, their price point is a bit higher than what I like to reach for in my budget. Two, I’ve just never really enjoyed the Gurkha flavor profile. This isn’t to say they are not a good cigar; I just don’t care for it. So here is my take on the Gurkha G5 Avenger.
Construction: One thing I can’t fault Gurkha on is their construction and eye appeal. Every time I go in the shop the display of Gurkhas makes you stop and look at them. While this isn’t the most eye catching the wrapper is beautiful and nearly black. Draw is a touch on the easy site but not terribly loose.
Burn: The G5 Avenger burned really well, with a fairly clean burn line. Only problem I seemed to have is the ash didn’t hold on really well. I ashed more than once on the table.
Flavor: Like most Ghurka’s this cigar is very smooth. The background is a mellow earthy flavor. Once it warms up the cigar picked up some woody notes along with a pretty strong coffee flavor. There was a bit of spice.
Verdict: I enjoyed the cigar, but wasn’t blown away by it. Honestly I think there is better sticks at this price.

I thought these things were more than about $5 each. I must say I love all the Gurkha’s maduros. So far I haven’t tried this one, but I will at my first opportunity.
Thanks for the review Jesse.

They could be more at places, I’m just going by prices I found online.
