Cohiba Puro Dominicana Robusto Cigar Review

This is one of the samples I picked up while at the IPCPR. Unfortunately I only had one to smoke, so I had to be right on the first time I lit up, and hope the cigar had no issues. This cigar will be available in October 2008.

At this price point I got what I'd expect, very well constructed and attractive cigar. The cigar burned extremely well and had a nice white ash on it. The ash held on tight, only coming off when tapped firmly.

Flavor: I've been smoking more than usual lately so I've been having some trouble really picking up on the nuances in milder cigars. The Cohiba Puro Dominicana is a bold in your face cigar, no nuance here. The base was a heavy oak flavor with just a bit of coffee thrown in. On top of that you had a fairly complex mix of spices; I was able to pick out some definite sweeter notes along a good bit of pepper. It did have some smoothness that kept the spices from getting to harsh, but still not something you want to exhale out your nose too often.

Verdict: While at this price point you won't seeing me pick up a box. I still pick up one when I'm looking to spend some extra money on myself.

I’ve been really impressed with the new brands coming out recently. Like you, I’m more inclined to buy the better value ones.
