By Jesse | September 5, 2008 |

I saw this in my email this week from Tinder Box. They are offering a God of Fire Sampler. $174.95 is a bit out of my price range, but you do get four hard to find cigars and very nice lighter.

I want one!!! And to think, I stopped playing a lot of golf and took up reviewing cigars as a hobby to save money. Yeah, right!

I have a 2004 single in my cab, and have yet to try it… Far too rich for my blood to smoke on a regular basis, that’s for sure.

I have a real hard time smoking cigars that are that expensive. I think it’s for several reasons; 1. once you smoke it, it and the money it represented are gone; and 2. What if I like it, I will certainly want more. That picture above is as close as I will come to having those cigars in my house.

I’m with Mike on this one. I have always had a hard time spending good money on cigars, hell I have always had a hard time spending any money on cigars. That being said, if you estimate $40 for the lighter it only amounts to roughly $30 per stick. OK, you know that really didn’t make me feel any better.

Actually looks like a similar lighter goes for almost $89.

Well in that case, put me down for two. Perhaps this is a discussion for another time, but the problem I have with nice, Saturn V type lighters is that I lose them just as often as the $0.99 Bic’s.

The Travelor lighters are cool stuff. They are made to break apart into 3 pieces so that you can take it on a plane with you. Forget all the details, but it was just debuted at IPCPR I think.

I have a problem paying all that money for a cigar that doesn’t fit my taste profile.

I have to say that this blog has helped me understand that spending this kind of money isn’t necessary. I used to be a Cohiba only guy but I have found quite a few cigars that are not only legal, but 1/3 (or better) the price.

I’m converted. While these sound nice, I’ll pass … unless of course someone’s giving them away.

There are a lot of good cigars for short money out there and $175 can go a long way. For instance:

    - $72.00 - (20) CAO Gold Corona Gorda
    - $68.00 - (27) Romeo y Julieta Habana Reserve Corona
    - $35.00 - (20) Sancho Panza Extra Fuerte Cordoba

    A) They are (on average) 20 dollars a stick which leaves the lighter at about 95.00. I spent 70 dollars on a Lotus lighter that was 30% off and i love it to death. Funny how i loose 99 cent Bics all the time but i manage to keep my 100msrp Lotus lighter. GoF’s are worth the 20 dollars for a special occassion cigar, just like an Anejo or Opus X or an aged cigar (pre-embargo maybe?). Also own Colibri lighters, xikar ect ect… its true when they say “you get what you pay for”. They all hold up and have been well worth the money spent on them.

To who ever said something about legal cigars and Cohiba’s.. A) all cohiba’s are not cuban. B) be VERY careful of where you buy your cohiba’s as they are the most counterfit cigar out there.

Tried the GoF’s they are NOT worth the $$!!!!
