Second Take: Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Legend

By Jesse | September 8, 2008 |

Jeff did a fantastic job with his Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Legend Review, but I thought I’d add my thoughts on this cigar as well. It isn’t a full review, but more of adding my thoughts on this cigar.

Hoyo de Monterrey Exca

While I haven’t touched one in quite awhile, I’ve enjoyed most of the Excaliburs I’ve smoked. This isn’t like the other Excaliburs though, it has more of a kick to it.

A definite spicy heat really stayed out the forefront of the flavors throughout the smoke. It had some definite woody characteristics to it and none of the creaminess you have with the other Hoyo de Monterrey Excaliburs. General Cigar has a winner on their hands with this one.

Try the Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Legend Sampler.

I’ve been hearing a lot of good thing about this cigar here, and on the Stogie Fresh 5 which compared it to a Don Pepin Garcia because of the spiciness. that’s enough to get me to hunt one out and smoke it.

I agree with Chuck above… after reading your review and hearing Doc’s, this sounds like it is definitely worth a try.

I am a big fan of this cigar as well. So far it is in my top five for best cigar of the year.

    Hi,
You review of this cigar was dead on. I tried it at my local cigar store here in Cary N.C. This past Friday. Every thing you said was exactly what I experienced. Personally I preffer that creamy taste of the traditonal HDM, but if you like pepper & spice, I can’t think of a better smoke, however I did like the sweetness that accompanied the peppery spice.
