Camacho Select Robusto Cigar Review

When the prize for the last contest was sent to me a few extras were in the box. One of those extras was a box of the new blend of the Camacho Select. While the old Select was a good smoke, it wasn't one of my go to cigars. Released with a new band and tweaked blend I was looking forward to giving it another try.

No complaints on construction. Occasionally one might have a small tear in the wrapper at the foot. The Camacho Select has just a slight give to it and an easy draw. Thinking back on the box I just smoked through, they are burned very well. The only times I had an issue with the burn I was sitting outside and it was a bit windy.

Flavor: Definitely the most intense Cameroon I've ever smoked. While they don't say if there is any Corojo in the blend I was definitely picking out some of the flavors and this is Camacho after all. The spicy and sweetness of the Cameroon wrapper is definitely there and I also picked up some definite Corojo like flavors. They were very well balanced and complimented each other nicely.

Verdict: The La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Cameroon is another I know that has that Cameroon/Corojo combo, but the Corojo completely dominates in that cigar. The Camacho Select does a superb job of blending the two flavors. I smoked through a box of these in less than a month. I'll definitely pick up another.

How would you compare/contrast this to the Triple Maduro? I found the Maduro to be full of flavor but a bit too “peppery” for my taste. Given that and the $9.75 price tag at PC, I have this on my “avoid” list.

Thoughts?

The cigars are really different smokes very hard to compare them side by side. Considering this is a $6 cigar I’d probably smoke it more often. But if I’m in the mood for a full flavored maduro I’d go for the Triple Maddie.

Have you tried the Acid Krush Red Cameroon? Is it similar? Because that is still my favorite Cameroon cigar.

I’m almost ashamed to admit that I *still* have not tried a Camacho cigar. I keep meaning to, but I always seem to come home with something else. Of course, I’m itching to try the Triple Maduro, but I suspect this might be more my speed.

Could agree with you more. Just smoked the robusto I received in my herf bag at the NERF, and thought there was corojo in the blend as well. What could be better than a sweet AND spicey!

Your review is deadon.
