Do you have any special smoking clothes?
By Daniel | October 20, 2008 |
Allright, I was inspired by Ken, who commented on this recent post on ashtray mouth, saying that he has a special smoking jacket.
Do you have any special smoking clothes? I mean anything: a jacket, special socks, Zubaz Pants — whatever.

Seeing as we are in fall now and I smoke outside, I wear anything warm. I usually start a fire in my pit as well.

Zubaz pants!!! That’s good. They look like they would be very comfortable though. Makes me want to pick up a guitar and play some Van Halen (or try to anyway).

I don’t have any special clothes, although I sometimes think a smoking jacket would be a nice touch; it would make me feel super classy, plus it would keep my regular clothing from smelling like smoke.
However, like CWS, it’s at that time of year where I tend to wear whatever will keep me warm while I sit out on the balcony.

Like everyone else in New England, just smoking in the colder months is a challenge. I have an old Fleece Jacket that I generally wear over some other layers. Don’t want to have all my jackets smelling like smoke. Here’s another question. Where do you smoke in the Winter when you can’t smoke in the house? The garage is where I set up shop.

CWS - Nice.
Jason - Zubaz pants are amazing. Van Halen…eh.
Adam - If only there were a CigarJack smoking jacket. Hmm…
Len - What’s your setup like? Post a photo for us!

I don’t have anything special that I wear but thinking of adding a smoking jacket to my Christmas list this year. I am one of the lucky guys that has a smoke room for the colder days. It’s really a florida room on our 2nd floor that I have set aside for my “man room”. I’ve also installed an exhaust fan in one of its windows. http://keith.jaseblog.com/BlogPostComments.asp?ditsop=1069

During the winter, when I am more likely banished with the hounds to the garage, I have some ratty, and very cigar-smoke heavy old sweaters.
Not quite Hef’s smoking jacket. :) Those things are mighty expensive!

Daniel,
I’m honored by the shout-out, thank you!
As far as smoking location, I managed to get a free-but-still-in-good-shape pleather couch this summer, and it took residence on the back patio, which is covered by a fiberglass roof. I’ve got plans to head to Goodwill to pick up some complimentary side chairs, and I got an inexpensive Afghan rug to add some class (think The Dude’s rug in “The Big Lebowski”). Though the wind can still whip in, at least the Oregon rain doesn’t get my pals or me.
Now that Fall is upon us and the weather turns cooler, I switch from the aforementioned smoking jacket to a dedicated pullover hoodie sweatshirt. This stays on a hanger out on the back porch between wearings, which keeps it fairly fresh - though a bit brisk when I first pull it on!

Smoking jacket would be nice - however my wife would laugh me out of the house.
When it’s really cold, I smoke in the garage with the door open. I have a small space heater and set up a small area with a chair, cd player, books, etc.
Wool jackets are extremely warm but the smoke gets in the fibers and you’ll eventually need to dry clean it.

Mike: What kind of boots are we talking about? They’d better be good.
Edward: I hope it’s a Huxtable sweater; those are the best.
Ken: My pleasure!
CWS: You should laugh her out of the house for NOT wearing one.

Daniel - excellent point. Smoking jackets will be the topic of conversation tonight. Of course, my spending on cigars could work against me but I’m up for the challenge.

I have a few shirts made by Cubavera(?) that don’t hold the stinky cigar smell (not sure of the material but they’re made with a synthetic fabric). I wear these when it’s warm. During the colder months a synthetic fleece pullover also does the job.

I have an old windbreaker that I keep in the upstairs office just off the balcony. During the colder months, that’s my “smoking jacket”. Its just a nylon shell with a Sprint logo that I got years ago. Yeah, it smells like cigar smoke.
From all of the posts here, I would say a roundup of *where* we go to smoke would be even more informative!

Merrill - Definitely. It seems that these “talker” posts are quite popular!
