When I first started smoking I was always shelling out for those cheap plastic cutters you get on the counter at your local shop. After screwing up one too many cigars with one of those, I asked for a Palio for Christmas. I've been able to test a few different cutters over the past year or so and did a bit of research on a few others. I'm sure there are other good cutters out there, but I haven't had a chance to read about or use them.
The Palio Cigar Cutter was my first cutter that cost more than $5. Three years later this thing still cuts like a dream. If you like this style of double bladed cutter this is the one to get. This cutter comes with a lifetime warranty.
Almost every cigar smoker I know has or had a Xikar Cutter. The Redwood handled one in the picture is my favorite of the cheaper lines they have. They all use the same blades to even the cheaper ones cut just as good. It took me awhile to get comfortable using this cutter. I found it just a touch more difficult than using the Palio, but after a week or two it was no longer an issue. This is the one I keep in my coat pocket at all times. You never know when you'll need to cut a cigar. This cutter comes with a lifetime warranty.
I had a chance to talk at length with the folks from Xikar while at the IPCPR Trade Show and they handed me one of these cutters to try out. The Xikar Multi-Tool took a bit of time to figure out how to properly cut a cigar with it. It works very well for taking off a nice thin cut on the cap. I really like the compact size making it hardly noticeable when you have it in your pocket. Like all Xikar Cutters this one comes with a lifetime warranty.
When I first started asking about which cigar cutter I should ask for, the SAK Cigar Cutter got many rave reviews. I haven't tried one myself, but everyone I know who owns one is extremely pleased with it.
While not very handy for cutting a belicoso the Xikar Xi 007 is a great small cigar cutter that fits in on your key chain. While not my primary cutter this thing is handy to have, just in case you ever need a quick cut.
So what do I want for Christmas? You're looking at it. The Xikar Xi3 Cutter Red Limited Edition Havana Cutter. The handles are made by a artist from France using cigar bands from old Cuban Cigar brands. I have a feeling this one may stay on my wish list though, I haven't been that good this year.

Interesting the “Palio” is considered the “dirtiest horse race in the world.” It’s Italy’s Kentucky Derby, except it is run in the streets of Verona (I think) and is more like the WWF meets horse racing. The Swiss Army tool is nice, I might ask for that as a stocking stuffer, just hope it doesn’t get confiscated at the airport.
