Cigar Review: Casa Gomez Cigars
By Jesse | July 27, 2009 |
Loren over at Casa Gomez Cigars sent me a few cigars awhile back and as I reached for the last one in my humidor I hadn’t reviewed it yet. Time to get back on the ball and getting a weekly review out!
The Casa Gomez line is made for Casa Gomez Cigar by Tabacalera LTC. Tabacalera LTC is run by Luis Sanchez known for his La Tradicion Cubana line of cigars. This cigar is blended using Dominican Filler, a Honduran Binder and an Ecuadorian Wrapper. I had a chance to sample this cigar in several sizes and have no complaints about the construction.
Definitely a medium bodied smoke. Due to my summer allergies kicking in I’m having a hard time picking out some of the more subtle flavors in cigars lately so I could be missing someone that doesn’t live off decongestants might pick up. The cigar comes across with a dominant oak wood flavor to it, reminding me a bit of merlot. A touch of sweetness or grassy flavor picked up as the cigar warmed up.
A nice consistent smoke, definitely something I’d enjoy a bit later in the day. I’m a fan of the cigars Luis Sanchez has a hand in and this one is as good as some of his own lines, though a bit of a different flavor profile. I tried pairing this cigar up with a few different things. It went well with a red wine and also paired up nicely with a Scotch. I’ll have to get in touch with Loren to see if I can find a place online they are available. If you like the La Tradicion Cubana or other mild to medium bodied cigars this is one to try.
