Wednesday, May 14th, 2008This is one of my favorite everyday smokes. I have never noted a problem with one, tops for consistency. Tis a beauty, with its oscuro wrapper chock full of thick veins.

Cigar Review: CAO Mx2 Robusto
Tuesday, May 13th, 2008I’ve been on a CAO kick as of late and was preparing to review the CAO Brazilia, but Alex beat me to it. So I decided I’d to go back to one of the first cigars that really hooked me. I’d probably only smoked maybe 10 cigars at that point and was looking to try something different than the Arturo Fuentes I always picked up. There sat the Mx2, dark, dangerous and inviting with its black oily wrapper.

Cigar Review: La Gloria Cubana Serie R Maduro No. 5
Monday, May 12th, 2008After my review of the La Gloria Cubana Wavell Natural, Jerry from Stogie Review commented that he couldn’t wait for my take on the Serie R. So after work on Friday, I stopped as usual at my local cigar store and decided that I might as well pick one up. After all, it’s never too early in my cigar reviewing career to start taking requests, right?

Cigar Review: Don Tomas Sun Grown
Friday, May 9th, 2008I chose the Don Tomas Sun Grown Robusto to review not for its incredible complexity, but because I found it to be my perfect grill gar. I’ll explain that statement later. This medium brown Honduran puro was released by General Cigar in August 2007 and consists of tobacco aged for three years. It’s not the best Sun Grown on the market, but for the money, its not too far away.

Cigar Review: CAO Brazilia Gol!
Thursday, May 8th, 2008The CAO Brazilia has long been one of my favorite smokes–I always have a couple on hand in my humidor. It’s perfect for a quiet, contemplative smoke, which is what I was in the mood for tonight. So I grabbed one of these and headed outside with my MP3 player to enjoy a smoke on the porch. My wife was kind enough to bring me two fingers of scotch to go with it (Talisker Single Malt, Aged 18 Years), and I found that the combination of a beautiful spring evening, some Johnny Cash, and a great cigar and scotch pairing made for a fantastic evening.
