<p>Well I&#8217;m not sure if this is more of a treat for me or you. I got my hands on the new cigar from EO Brands. 601 Cigars were featured at one of the weekly tastings put on by <strong><a href="http://thepartysource.com/cigars.php" target="_blank">The Party Source</a></strong>. <strong><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/2008/02/21/interview-with-eddie-ortega/">Eddie Ortega</a></strong> showed up for the event and handed me a couple of these. He warned me to let them rest a few days before trying them as they were fresh off the rolling table. It was a long wait, I&#8217;m not a very patient person. Well I finally gave and lit the first one up last week, and lit the final one up today.
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-00051.jpg" rel="lightbox[Cubao No 1]" title="EO Brands Cubao No. 1 Cigar Review"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="153" alt="EO Brands Cubao No. 1 Cigar Review" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0005-thumb1.jpg" width="404" border="0"></a>
<p><strong>Construction:</strong> The Cubao is what I expect construction wise from EO Brands. It is firm and a dark chocolate colored wrapper, there is one larger vein standing out and an oily sheen. A quick prelight draw, fantastic, just a slight resistance.
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0010.jpg" rel="lightbox[Cubao No 1]" title="EO Brands Cubao No. 1 Cigar Review"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="153" alt="EO Brands Cubao No. 1 Cigar Review" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0010-thumb.jpg" width="404" border="0"></a>
<p><strong>Burn:</strong> A great burn on this cigar, dead even the whole time. It never once required a relight even when neglected.
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0011.jpg" rel="lightbox[Cubao No 1]" title="EO Brands Cubao No. 1 Cigar Review"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="145" alt="EO Brands Cubao No. 1 Cigar Review" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0011-thumb.jpg" width="404" border="0"></a>
<p><strong>Flavor:</strong> This cigar was definitely complex. It had a definite mix of coffee and wood at the base, with an initial blast of pepper. After a minute or so the pepper faded out replaced with different spices. I was able to pick out some cinnamon, a touch of clove and some cayenne. Occasionally the spice would mellow out enough and I&#8217;d pick up oak at times and sometimes I&#8217;d pick up a dark chocolate. The smoke also had a nice creaminess to it, very heavy and lingered in the mouth. With two inches left the cigar started to develop some bad flavors and I picked up a little ammonia so had to set it down. Another week or so of rest probably would have improved the cigar.
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0013.jpg" rel="lightbox[Cubao No 1]" title="EO Brands Cubao No. 1 Cigar Review"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="153" alt="EO Brands Cubao No. 1 Cigar Review" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0013-thumb.jpg" width="347" border="0"></a>
<p><strong>Verdict:</strong> EO Brands has another great cigar on their hands if the production release is as good as the sample I got. Definitely be looking to buy a box or two when they hit the shelves.</p>
<p><center><embed src="http://blip.tv/play/Ab6sVwA" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="320" height="270" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></center></p>

<p><strong><em>Update:</strong> I just noticed that it appears that the music didn&#8217;t load when I encoded the video. If you are listening to just the audio you&#8217;ll get about 20 seconds of dead air at the start of the episode.</em>
<p>Eddie sent me a photo of the cigar with bands, since the samples I got were unbanded.</p>

<p><strong>Construction:</strong> Like almost every CAO I&#8217;ve smoked, this cigar is beautiful. The Brazilian wrapper is almost black with a nice oily sheen to it. The cigar has a slight give to it, but no glaring soft spots. The prelight draw was easy and had a surprising amount of flavor in it, but I couldn&#8217;t quite place it. </p>
<p align="center"><a title=" press=" href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-00082.jpg" rel="lightbox[CAO Brazilia Box Press]" title="CAO Brazilia Box Press Cigar"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="181" alt="CAO Brazilia Box Press Cigar" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0008-thumb2.jpg" width="360" border="0" /></a> <br /><em>The burn got a touch ugly here.</em></p>
<p><strong>Burn:</strong> This cigar burned very well for me, I only had to touch it up once. The ash held on very well, only coming loose when I tapped it off. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0009.jpg" rel="lightbox[CAO Brazilia Box Press]" title="CAO Brazilia Box Press Cigar"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="181" alt="CAO Brazilia Box Press Cigar" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0009-thumb.jpg" width="355" border="0" /></a><br /><em>The burn evened out nicely with a little touch up.</em></p>
<p><strong>Flavor:</strong> Tall and tan and young and lovely&#8230; err wait I think that is a song. Right off the bat this cigar hits you with a blast of black pepper, but that soon mellows out and moves into the background. Wood, earth and coffee come to the forefront. The cigar also had a smooth creaminess about it, making it very easy to smoke. Around the half way point towards the start of the final third the cigar picked up a rich dark chocolate flavor. With about an inch or so left the cigar went from neglect so I laid it to rest. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0012.jpg" rel="lightbox[CAO Brazilia Box Press]" title="CAO Brazilia Box Press Cigar"><img style="border-top-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="181" alt="CAO Brazilia Box Press Cigar" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0012-thumb.jpg" width="343" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Verdict:</strong> I didn&#8217;t have the severe burn issues I had other people mention, but it did require a couple touch ups. I still love the Brazilia line and definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a full flavored cigar. <p><strong>Construction:</strong> While the one I smoked for this review was beautiful, these have been hit and miss recently. I&#8217;ve had some that look like absolute crap. They shouldn&#8217;t have even left the factory. So if you are picking up any singles or boxes at your local shop, be sure to look them over before you walk out.</p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-00041.jpg" rel="lightbox[Padron 6000 Maduro]" title="Padron 6000 Maduro Cigar"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="145" alt="Padron 6000 Maduro Cigar" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0004-thumb1.jpg" width="404" border="0" /></a>&#160; </p>
<p><strong>Burn:</strong> I have to say that all of these have burned extremely well with a beautiful white ash on them. The one I smoked for this review was perfect, and never required any touch up. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0006.jpg" rel="lightbox[Padron 6000 Maduro]" title="Padron 6000 Maduro Cigar"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="130" alt="Padron 6000 Maduro Cigar" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0006-thumb.jpg" width="329" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Flavor:</strong> This cigar starts off with a strong woody flavor before settling down to where the earthiness and coffee start to come out. Near the start of the second third the cigar picks up a little spice along with some definite dark chocolate. I also picked up some hints of cream mixed in with the rest of the flavors. By the start of the final third the cigar picks up some definite heat maybe some notes of cayenne and cinnamon. Wood, earth, coffee and chocolate are still the dominate flavors. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-00081.jpg" rel="lightbox[Padron 6000 Maduro]" title="Padron 6000 Maduro Cigar"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="130" alt="Padron 6000 Maduro Cigar" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0008-thumb1.jpg" width="242" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Verdict:</strong> While I still love these cigars, I&#8217;m disappointed that I&#8217;m seeing so many that appear to badly constructed. Honestly I&#8217;d want to inspect any I plan on buying before I get them.</p>

<p>I&#8217;ve done the <a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/2008/05/21/cigar-review-la-aurora-connoisseur-selection-brazil/"><strong>Brazil</strong></a> and the <a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/2008/06/09/cigar-review-la-aurora-connoisseur-selection-corojo/"><strong>Corojo</strong></a> so today I move on to the La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Cameroon. One of my favorite Cameroon wrappered cigars is made by La Aurora so I was eager to give this one a try. My one fear is that the Corojo would over power the Cameroon. So let&#8217;s get started&#8230; </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0004.jpg" rel="lightbox[LACS Cameroon]" title="La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Cameroon"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="157" alt="La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Cameroon" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0004-thumb.jpg" width="404" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Construction:</strong> This cigar is beautifully construction. Except for a water spot near the foot this was an almost flawless wrapper. The cigar is very firm with no give to it all. I chose to use my punch to open up this cigar and it opened up the draw perfectly. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0005.jpg" rel="lightbox[LACS Cameroon]" title="La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Cameroon"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="136" alt="La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Cameroon" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0005-thumb.jpg" width="390" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Burn:</strong> One of the best burning cigars I&#8217;ve had in a while. It never went out, and never required a touch up. The ash was nearly white and held on well for the most part. While moving around a bit to get a picture I ended up knocking the ash off on myself once. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0007.jpg" rel="lightbox[LACS Cameroon]" title="La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Cameroon"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="136" alt="La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Cameroon" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0007-thumb.jpg" width="282" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Flavor:</strong> Right from the get go I could tell my fears were right on. The first few puffs were a mix of leather, oak and that distinctive Corojo flavor. These flavors pretty much dominated the cigar with some spice gradually picking up as the cigar progressed. Occasionally in the first half of the smoke I&#8217;d get a faint touch of caramel, but it never lasted more than a puff or two. The cigar was enjoyable, but not what I want out of a Cameroon. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0008.jpg" rel="lightbox[LACS Cameroon]" title="La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Cameroon"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="136" alt="La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Cameroon" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/dsc-0008-thumb.jpg" width="247" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Verdict:</strong> This reminded me of the <a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/2008/06/09/cigar-review-la-aurora-connoisseur-selection-corojo/"><strong>Corojo</strong></a> quite a bit, just less exciting. I think the filler and binder completely over power anything the wrapper might provide flavor wise. </p>

<p>Reyes Family Cigars is the new name for Puros Indios, which is in the process of coming out with a few new lines as they rebrand themselves. One thing that seems to be their trademark is the size of their cigars on the larger end. The Premier is no exception, this Perfecto I&#8217;m reviewing intimidates most of the cigars in my humidor. Most other cigars made by Rolando Reyes Sr. have a distinct flavor to them I could often pick up across their brands, this cigar departs from that and the only thing it has in common is the availability in larger vitolas. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/premier-perfecto-3.jpg" rel="lightbox[Premier Perfecto]" title="Reyes Family Cigars Premier Perfecto"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="169" alt="Reyes Family Cigars Premier Perfecto" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/premier-perfecto-3-thumb.jpg" width="404" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Construction:</strong> Not the prettiest cigar, but well constructed. It has a slight give when pressed, but it is uniform with no obvious soft spots. The wrapper is a dark mottled brown with some larger veins in it. The cigar comes pre-cut with a very small opening. The draw was good so I didn&#8217;t cut off anymore. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/premier-perfecto-4.jpg" rel="lightbox[Premier Perfecto]" title="Reyes Family Cigars Premier Perfecto"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="169" alt="Reyes Family Cigars Premier Perfecto" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/premier-perfecto-4-thumb.jpg" width="385" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Burn:</strong> The burn was great and the cigar last a bit over an hour. I only needed one touch up in the last third. The ash was almost white and held on very well. </p>
<p><strong>Flavor:</strong> The cigar starts with some woody flavors on the first few puffs, but that soon mellows out and turned into a rich mix of coffee and earthiness. There is a touch of sweetness in the flavor, berry like, something you&#8217;d get in a good coffee. Some spice picked up in the last half really getting stronger as the cigar progressed, but it never got harsh. </p>
<p align="center"><a href="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/premier-perfecto-1.jpg" rel="lightbox[Premier Perfecto]" title="Reyes Family Cigars Premier Perfecto"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="169" alt="Reyes Family Cigars Premier Perfecto" src="http://www.cigarjack.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/premier-perfecto-1-thumb.jpg" width="358" border="0" /></a> </p>
<p><strong>Verdict:</strong> This is a big change from the typical flavors I get out of a cigar from Rolando Reyes Sr. It reminded me bit of the Drew Estate Natural, but not as sweet.&#160; I&#8217;d definitely pick a few up, but I think I prefer the smaller sizes. I smoked one of the Toro sizes and thought some of the flavors were a bit more intense. I&#8217;ll post a short review of it in the near future.</p>
