Well I just got a call that I got a new job. So I plan on getting something special to celebrate and would like some suggestions. I’m looking for a box of cigars under $200 and a nice beverage to pair with it.

Cigars I prefer on the fuller side and I’m fond of rums and bourbons, but open to trying something else.

Well for those of you that still read this site, and for the few you that give a damn I thought I’d mention that I’m still alive.

So what happened?

Unfortunately the site had to be put on hold for a number of reasons. I was stretching myself too thin and had to concentrate on my family, my job and myself.

My family is now probably in the best place it has ever been, only a couple years ago I was thinking the worst and now things are fantastic. Won’t bore you with the details, let’s just say the my biggest sense of accomplishment right now is the improvement I’ve seen at home.

My job, well what job? Yeah the job that was stressing me out is no more. Funny how it is almost a relief to be unemployed. I’ve got a couple interviews and things look promising. Honestly I’m not really too worried about it. I’ve got some freelance gigs I can do if nothing else comes up.

Finally about myself, I was starting to hate myself and I felt like crap. I’ve lost 40lbs now and feel much better. Also I’ve taken a look at strengths and weaknesses while doing my resume and preparing for job interviews. I realized I tend to over commit and need to work on my time management/project management skills. I know how to run a project, my problem is that I thought I was “multitasking” instead I was really just spinning my wheels in ten different directions. I’m adapting the GTD method to suit me and so far it has helped quite a bit.

So then what about the site? Well part of the reason I neglected it was that I really lost interest in writing about cigars and seemed to have trouble thinking of something new to write about. This site will still be heavily focused on cigars, but I may also write something about my work or something I find interesting. I should warn you though, that lately I’ve been interested in Windows PowerShell, Project Management, and building out my home network. So basically I’m coming back in full cigar smoking geek mode. You’ve been warned.

Well I upgraded the site tonight and apparently some of the new “features” in WordPress didn’t agree with the customizations I’d done.

I know I’ve been missing for the past several months and I apologize for not saying anything. I’ve avoided email, facebook, twitter and the site. Work has been stressful over the past year and at the beginning of January a huge personal matter took center stage in my life and had to be dealt with and well I’m still dealing with it but in a much better spot now. Dealing with this and work took and all my available energy.

I know I dropped the ball on a contest and plan to make that right. I’ve got several months of email to go through, but again just wanted to apologize for vanishing like I did.

The internet is a big, big place.

Cigar-related digital conversations are happening on blogs, in forums and on social networks all over the world. With more and more of our readers jumping on Twitter, we decided to put some skin in the game there as well.

Next Thursday, from 7-9pm CST, CigarJack will host the first ever #cigarchat on Twitter.

The discussion will be fairly laid back. We’ll have some questions for you, but basically it’ll be a freewheeling chat about cigars, the cigar business and other stogie-related issues.
