Cigar Links Edition 4: CAO Cameroon

February 2, 2008

The CAO Cameroon is one of first cigars I smoked with a Cameroon Wrapper. It still is one of the cigars I reach for when I’ve got a Sunday afternoon to sit back relax. I enjoy it because it is probably one of the fuller bodied Cameroons on the market, but the Nicaraguan filler doesn’t over power the flavors of the wrapper. I reviewed the CAO Cameroon Toro back in April 2007, and Daniel reviewed the Belicoso in December 2007.

CAO Black VR Moby Cigar Review

January 29, 2008

The CAO Black VR is a good-looking cigar. Everything from the band, to the cigar’s oily sheen, all the way down to the extra Jackson Pollock-esque band at the opposite end of the cigar. (Then again, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an ugly CAO.)

CAO Black Cigar Review

January 22, 2008

Now one of the top brands in the industry, Nashville-based CAO really started on what would become its road to fame in the mid-90s, when the company released the Black. After smoking this, you’ll be able to see why the company became a hit.

As you can see, it’s a good-looking cigar. When packed, it’s wrapped in a thin slice of cedar wood, but after peeling back the cedar, I noticed the wrapper was especially smooth.

CAO Sopranos Boss Cigar Review

November 19, 2007

Does this cigar really need an introduction? What do you do when Tony Soprano asks you to make him a cigar? You make it or else. The Soprano Edition is the first cigar that HBO has ever licensed to commemorate a show, and who else would you turn to for something like this, but CAO? CAO is the cigar industry’s king of marketing and knows how to get their cigars in the public eye. The CAO Soprano Edition is a beautiful dark cigar in an eye catching box that is reminiscent of a cherry red car trunk.

CAO America Potomac Cigar Review

October 22, 2007

The CAO America was added to the CAO stable of cigars this year at the RTDA/IPCPR Trade Show. Like most CAO cigars, it is a good looking cigar that is well constructed but unlike the others, the America has dual wrappers that gives the stick a beautiful pin stripe effect. I had a few at the show but my taste buds were so burned out by the time I tried them I couldn’t tell much about it in terms of flavor. The cigar is firm, but I did find the draw a touch easy.Lighting up and taking a few puffs I was immediately hit with leather flavor and some nuttiness. These flavors pretty much stayed consistent throughout the first half with some coffee added to the mix. At mid point, while the leather stayed dominant, the nuttiness faded to the back and allowed the coffee note to come to the front. The America stayed predominately this was for the remainder of the cigar.
