Cigar Review: Room101 Cigars

November 8, 2009

I was kind of skeptical when I first started hearing about this cigar. Probably one of the first cigar promotions that I’ve seen make heavy use of the Internet as they have. My local shop got them in a few weeks ago so I finally had a chance to give it a try. The Room101 [...]

I’m continuing to work my way through all the cigars I got at the IPCPR in Las Vegas. Last week I took a look at the Isla de Cuba Classic, a creamy surprising fuller flavored Connecticut. This review takes a look at the Isla de Cuba Aged Maduro.

Cigar Review: Isla de Cuba Classic

September 25, 2008

Isla de Cuba Classic Cigar Review

I’d read a couple Isla de Cuba reviews over at Stogie Guys, but other than that I’d never heard of these cigar prior to meeting up with them at the 2008 IPCPR Trade Show. The cigars I got from them went into my humidor with all the other stuff I’d gotten and at the time I didn’t think anything more of it until a few weeks later, Darryl gave me a call and offered to send me a couple more samples. The first one to face the cutter and light was the Classic.

Cigar Review: Camacho Select Robusto

September 18, 2008

Camacho Select Robusto Cigar Review

When the prize for the last contest was sent to me a few extras were in the box. One of those extras was a box of the new blend of the Camacho Select. While the old Select was a good smoke, it wasn’t one of my go to cigars. Released with a new band and tweaked blend I was looking forward to giving it another try.

Cigar Review: Macanduo 1968 Robusto

Macanduo 1968 Robusto Cigar Review

Description:
I wasn’t weaned on Macanudos when I started smoking cigars. As a matter of fact, I’ve probably only smoked about four or five. I can tell you that I can’t really remember anything about my previous experiences with this brand other than it is an ok cigar.

Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Old World Reserve Corojo Robusto

Rocky Patel Old World Reserve Corojo Cigar Review

I wasn’t quite sure how to introduce this line—after all, who in the Cigar world hasn’t heard of Rocky Patel?  Turns out this was solved for me when I stopped by my local cigar shop last week, and who did I run into but—Rocky Patel!  I shook his hand and mentioned to him that this was my favorite cigar in his line.  Turns out, he agrees with me.  I don’t know what better testimony you can get than that.

Punch Gran Cru Maduro Robusto

I seem to always go for the lesser known stuff lately, so I’m making an effort over the next couple of weeks to review a few of the easier recognized names in the cigar industry. I started it off last week with hitting up Padron and CAO, this week I’m taking a look at some of the different Punch Cigars out there. The first one on the list is the Punch Gran Cru Maduro.

Cigar Review: Rocky Patel Edge Lite Torpedo

June 17, 2008

Blue Havana in Chicago has a free monthly smoke that I enjoy attending. But to truly get an idea of the type of shop it is, consider this: It’s part of The Alley group of stores on Belmont Avenue, a trendy little strip on the city’s North Side.

Cigar Review: Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 Double Corona

May 15, 2008

Carlos Torano makes a bunch of great cigars that I’m a fan of.  Indeed, the Exodus 1959 Silver Edition ranks among my favorite cigars.  So it was something of a surprise when I was searching for my traditional Friday night cigar and came to the realization that I’ve never actually tried the 1959 Exodus itself.  That’s especially the case because I’ve been on something of a box press kick lately and my store was featuring a lovely looking box pressed double corona that was calling my name.  I bought it and smoked it on the spot.
