Cigar Review: Jameson Black Label

August 22, 2008

Jameson Cigars Black Label Robusto Cigar Review

I reviewed the original Jameson Red Label awhile back. While it was an enjoyable smoke, it was something I really had to be in the mood to smoke. Brad from Jameson Cigars and Luis Sanchez from La Tradicion Cubana reblended the Red Label and launched the Black Label at the IPCPR Trade Show. I’ll be hitting the newly reblended Red Label in the next couple of weeks. Right not I’m taking a look at the Brazilian wrappered Black Label.

Kristoff Maduro Cigar Review

The Kristoff lines have been on my list of cigars that I’ve been constantly meaning to try. Thanks to the generous guys over at Exclusive Cigars I got a great selection of samples to try. Daniel tried the Kristoff Criollo awhile back so I’m thought I’d smoke the maduro first.

Cigar Review: Los Blancos Maduro

Los Blancos Maduro Robusto Cigar Review

Los Blancos was one of the companies I was making a point to speak with while at the IPCPR Trade Show in Las Vegas. It took me until the end of the show to finally get a minute to speak with David Blanco. Unfortunately we didn’t get much time to talk, but I did get a few cigars to try.

Cigar Review: La Caya Brazil

August 15, 2008

La Caya Brazil Robusto Cigar Review

I hadn’t heard of La Caya cigars prior to the Trade Show in Vegas. They’ve been around since 1997, but are now doing a big push to expand. You’ll probably see their ads start popping up in your favorite cigar magazine in the next few months. I spoke with Jose from La Caya, and after telling him the type of cigar I enjoyed he immediately asked me to try the Brazil.

Cigar Review: Gurkha G5 Avenger Toro

August 4, 2008

Gurkha G5 Avenger Toro Cigar Review

In the past I’ve only reviewed a couple cigars from Gurkha. A couple of reasons for that. One, their price point is a bit higher than what I like to reach for in my budget. Two, I’ve just never really enjoyed the Gurkha flavor profile. This isn’t to say they are not a good cigar; I just don’t care for it. So here is my take on the Gurkha G5 Avenger.

Cigar Review: J. Fuego Delirium Robusto

J Fuego Delirium Robusto Cigar Review

If you pay attention to the cigar news at all or read this site you’ve probably heard of the Xikar Defiance. Jesus Fuego is the man behind that cigar, and the J. Fuego Cigars are his own line. While at the Trade Show in Las Vegas, I ran into the guys from The Party Source. They asked if I saw anything they don’t carry that I thought was worth checking out. I didn’t even have to think about it, I sent them over to meet with Jesus Fuego. Now I can pick up these cigars locally, they picked up all his lines.

Cigar Review: Cuvée 151 Robusto

July 29, 2008

Cuvee 151 Robusto Cigar Review

I first tried this cigar a few months ago when I got it in a sampler. Every once and awhile I’d pick up a couple meaning to review them, but I’d always end up smoking them without writing up a review. Well this weekend I picked up a few of them and decided I can’t smoke anything else until I finally get this review written. The Cuvee line is made by Cusano Cigars and takes its name from the highest proof of alcohol sold in the United States. It was intended to be released in 2007, but the Chiusanos were not happy with the blend so it was reblended and now readily available.

Cigar Review: Punch Gran Cru Maduro Robusto

Punch Gran Cru Maduro Robusto

I seem to always go for the lesser known stuff lately, so I’m making an effort over the next couple of weeks to review a few of the easier recognized names in the cigar industry. I started it off last week with hitting up Padron and CAO, this week I’m taking a look at some of the different Punch Cigars out there. The first one on the list is the Punch Gran Cru Maduro.

Cigar Review: Padron 6000 Maduro

Padron 6000 Maduro Cigar

Construction: While the one I smoked for this review was beautiful, these have been hit and miss recently. I’ve had some that look like absolute crap. They shouldn’t have even left the factory. So if you are picking up any singles or boxes at your local shop, be sure to look them over before you walk out.

Cigar Review: La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Brazil

May 21, 2008

La Aurora Connoisseur Selection Brazil

After reviewing La Aurora’s website I realized I hadn’t smoked many of their cigars lately. The Connoisseur Selection is a cigar enthusiasts dream. It consists of four cigars each with the same blend, but featuring different wrappers. You can try each wrapper and see how the wrapper changes the flavor profile. The Connoisseur Selection features the same blend as the 1495 series, but you have your choice between the Brazilian, Cameroon, Connecticut and Corojo wrappers. I enjoy most cigars with Brazilian tobacco so I thought I’d start there.
