November 5, 2008

Well the economy has gone to the dogs and all of us are feeling the pinch. So I’ve been looking for good cigars that won’t break the budget. Most bundled cigars don’t impress me. By the time I deal with either too many bad cigars in the bundle or just too bland for my tastes I’m better off having spent some extra for a consistent cigar.

So, there’s a new cigar shop that passes for a decent pub about 10 minutes from my house. I’m working with the owner to beef up his selection (it needs it!!). He turned me on to the Don Lino Africa Duma (robusto) the other night. I must say, I do not normally make first impressions with smokes, but this one looked really good! I totally dig the band! Nice dark oily wrapper! Thick, meaty mutha…smooth veins, and a tad bit lumpy! Quite firm though….

August 4, 2008

Gurkha G5 Avenger Toro Cigar Review

In the past I’ve only reviewed a couple cigars from Gurkha. A couple of reasons for that. One, their price point is a bit higher than what I like to reach for in my budget. Two, I’ve just never really enjoyed the Gurkha flavor profile. This isn’t to say they are not a good cigar; I just don’t care for it. So here is my take on the Gurkha G5 Avenger.
